Hey.... Where'd the good weather go? :(

This week has been slightly depressing in a couple ways lol.

Way #1) The weather for the last several days has been very miserable, which makes me think that there must be a tropical storm in the area or something. But it has been nothing but a constant blanket of clouds, rain, and wind. Last week it was nice and sunny, to the change is noticable.

Way #2) Italians are affected by the weather. It controls their lives lol. Their attitudes reflect the weather. So, with the weather we have been having, you can only immagine how the Italians have been. Not many people have been wanting to talk with us this last week, but hey, what can you do?

and Finally, Way #3) Enzo, the investigator we have had for awhile, gave us a call the other day. He told us that we are awesome, that he loves the church, that he knows it is the right way, and that it is all true, but that he cant meet with us anymore. His wife gave a VERY large forbidden order on taking lessons from us anymore, and he had to comply. So that was slightly disappointing, as I am sure you can immagine.

But other than those three things, this week has been awesome! Monday, we got to go to Palermo to get interviewed by the Mission President, President Kelly. He came down, and I had one of the best interviews I have had with him yet. It is so weird how a small, 15 minute interview can be such a cool thing. It was one of my highlights for my week.

So for my birthday, I had a pretty sweet day. I woke up, got ready, and studied like usual. Then, when we left the house, we went and bought something called "Arancini" which are like rice balls with meat in the middle, which are really good. Then we walked around and did some house because we didnt have any appointments set up for the morning. Then, we got a Gelato, which was the best one I have ever had, and then we went home for lunch. Afterwards, we had a Young Adults activity in church, which turned out to be a almost "surprise" birthday party for me. It was a way fun night, and not what I was really expecting.

We have a new investigator named Pietro, that has alot of potential. He has had a past, though, and is really bothered by it. We had really good lesson with him, especially about repentance, and he really felt the Spirit in what we bore testimony about. It was really good, especially because he pointed out when he felt the Holy Ghost the very first time we talked with him, so we know that he felt the spirit this time around. We plan on inviting him to be baptised tonight when we see him. Wish us luck!

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes from everyone! And thanks for everything you do for me.

Oh, P.S. We have permission to use skype to call home for mother's day, and they said we could call on Sunday the 8th, so let me know by next week is best for you all to call, and what times. Remember, I am 8 hours ahead, so I was thinking about 8:00 in the morning, Utah time, just like how we did for Christmas.  Let me know what you think!

Thanks! Love ya all!

One Year Older? Yes. Wiser? No.

I just want to say this. YES! I finally get away from family birthday spankings and there is nothing you all can do about it! Muahahaha!

And the next coment is this. 2 weeks, 4 days till mothers day, and I will be able make the famous call. Be ready :D

The last two days have been really good. They were terrible in the fact that I think we easily rode 25 miles on our bikes, and my legs wanted to shoot me by the end of last night, but incredible in that some really cool things happened. Monday morning we had decided to try and find all the old contacts from 6 or 7 years ago, so we picked some names and started biking around finding these people. Most werent there anymore. But the last name of the day was a man named Pietro, and when we rang his citofono, at first he didnt recognise us. But when he did, his entire countenance lit up. He invited us in, made us eat Kuskus with him, and asked us why we hadnt come to find him again before now. He then invited us back the next day, where we had an incredible first lesson, and he then invited us back again another day. This was a huge testimony to me that finding old contacts and investigators really does work wonders.

Remind me that when I bring you all to Italy, and that if we every come to visit Trapani, to make me take you to Napola, where they make the world famous, biggest Cannoli ever! And it was so good! My branch president here likes to take us to get cannoli after lessons with him, and I dont think that I will ever mind lol. They are definately one thing I want to learn how to make.

One thing I have definately noticed is that when you stay in a city for more than 1 transfer, your relationship with that ward or branch skyrockets exponentially. This last week was a testimony of that for me. On Sunday, we had 3 invites to lunch after church. Monday night we had another sweet dinner with another member family. They made a mushroom and sausage pasta, and it was incredible. Then, the branch set up a Young Adult night, and they made sure to do it on a night when we could come. Things are just going awesome here in Trapani.

One final note, Italians love wishing people a happy holiday or a happy birthday. Last night at english class, to end the night off, everyone wished us all a happy Easter, and to me they gave me a "doppio Auguri" double congratulations, and then it was the famous "Italian Bacio" all around, where everyone went around giving the side of the face kiss lol. It takes FOREVER for everyone to do it haha. Gotta love Italians.

Anyways, Till next week!

Buona!

Well, hey there everybody!

I just want to let you know, that this last week seemed to be one of the longest, slowest weeks of my mission. For what reason, I cant really say, but I think it was because on Monday, we started a new transfer. But from the time we recieved our tranfer calls to when the transfer actually started was 9 days, and for some reason, I think that was the culprit for a really long week, just because it seemed to take forever for the new transfer to get here.

We have been trying to start of the new transfer with a bang, but so far it has just been kinda a little pop instead lol. I guess it takes time to build some momentum. Anziano Nelson is the man. He says he is a greenie still, but he doesnt seem very green to me anymore. I have been learning alot from him, especialy what it means to be a good teacher. We get along great, and our favorite thing to do is order pizza. Buona!

We had a sweet lesson tuesday night. We have this family of investigators that has we have been trying to meet for a long time, but it seems like we never get the chance. Finally we got fed up with it, so I made an executive decision that after english class, which ends at 8:30 pm, we would race over and see them on our bikes. We got there, and everyone greeted us, and we started talking. They absolutely loved The Restoration video that we left them last time, but this time because we had so little time, we watched the Finding Happiness video with them, and had a sweet prayer with them. Before we left, however, they had a friend over with them while we were talking, who just asks us the question "why are there so many different religions? I'm catholic, but I want to know why there isnt something for everyone." But the cool part was that the entire family then turned to us, asked if they could borrow the Restoration video again for one more night, and then they told their friend that she would get her answer if she watched this video with them after we left. This family is going to be baptised very soon, I feel it!

Monday morning, we had District Meeting in Palermo, and it went really well. We have a new district leader, Anziano Tinoco, who is going to do very well, and it was good meeting. Before the meeting started, we had all sorts of things to do for when we got back to Trapani, but on the bus ride home every single one cancelled on us. I had just looked at my companion, and had uttered the words "well anziano, I have no idea what to do tonight" when 4 seconds later a member calls and invites us over for a dinner and a family home evening with his family. Miracles do happen! It was proof God loves us, and he was taking pity on us as missionaries lol.

Anyways, its true. God does love us, and he wants us all to be as happy as we possibly can. Of that, I can bear my firm testimony without a doubt in my mind. No matter what, things are always gonna look up.

Love ya!

Anziano Parry

P.S. I have decided on 3 things I would like but are not necessary for my Birthday. #1) These weird little flosser tooth picker things in the picture. I am almost out, and they dont have them here. #2) I would like some of those blue plastic floss threader things so I can floss my teeth where I have my permenant retainer. #3) I was thinking just maybe a couple packets of Kool-aid :D. Oh! and I have to add a #4) BUTTERFINGERS! lol.

Love ya all again!

Things of April

Well, lets just say its another day in Paradise!

Today's Giorno di Preparazione (Preparation Day) has been incredible so far. I woke up, studied some, showered like usual, ate some pizza that I had saved over from last night. By the way, the pizza here is so cool. We have a pizza place right by our house. We give them a call, we say the kind of pizza we want, and they already know its us because the Anziani here have been buying from this pizza place for forever, and then 15 minutes later it is at our house. Its nice:D. Well today, we went to Erice, which is an ancient city close by Trapani. It was absolutely beautiful. Add Erice to your list of places you want me to take you when we all come back to Italy together. It was about as ancient Italian as it gets. Very nice!

This last week was slightly hard for me, but not in a terrible sense. It was hard in the fact that we have been finding some new investigators, but we couldnt meet with any of this last week it seems like. This awesome family that we found, that I told you all about, is very difficult to meet because they have no money in their cellphone, so when we set something up they cant call us and let us know if they cancel and wont be home. Which seems to happen alot lol. So we have an appointment with them tonight, and we are praying that all goes well.

Yesderday we had a really cool lesson with a man named Giuseppe and his wife (I never remember her name). We had a member with us, and we had met with them last tuesday also. Last time, we had taught the restoration, and explained the Book of Mormom, and then we left. During the week, Giuseppe decided he wanted to check what we said so he searched the Internet. The cool thing was, he said he realised he was going to find all the stuff critising us too, so he just ignored all that and just read stuff that would inform him. And he found everything we said. This time, yesterday, we taught a little of the Plan of Salvation, and they loved it. They ate it all up. The spirit was definately there, and finally, when we ran out of time, we asked when we could come back. He said "come back tomorrow if you want!" and his wife immediately said "No! I wont be here tomorrow!" haha it was a really good lesson.

General Conference was really good for me. I loved it. There was one talk, by Anziano Nelson if I remember right, that was on Desires, and I absolutely enjoyed that talk thoroughly. And then, how President Monson gave a whole section of his talk sunday morning to talk about the Rome temple! Incredible!

Hey Joey! I want to ask you something! What to you want from Italy for a Birthday/baptism present? And since my birthday happens to be this month also, I just wish to say I want nothing:D but if you have to send me something, use your imaginations:) and I do have one request. Someone give Lauren a "Wet Willy" for me because she made fun of how old I soon will be. Thanks:D

I love you guys bunches! Vi amo tantissimo!

Ciao, Anziano Parry
